Tip #6: If you don’t know the language the locals are speaking, pick up on key phrases.
If you’re not fluent or familiar with the language that locals at your destination are speaking, it would be helpful for you to learn a thing or two. Try to memorize the basics. Or at least write them down. Here’s a quick list of common phrases:
Where is the bathroom?
My name is:
What is your name?
How are you?
I’m not well. (Or something to that effect.)
It helps to know how to say the specific names of food and beverage. Like when you’re ordering something. “Can I have…?”
If you do speak the same language as the locals at your destination, research lingo. Sometimes, you may find yourself completely thrown off by new and obscure phrases. Share your tip #traveltanztip
